Here’s a simple recipe for tea tree oil shampoo that works and smells great. The neat thing about tea tree oil is that it’s so nice for your scalp so shampoo is such a great thing to introduce it into. Also you can adjust the amount of tea tree oil to deal with flakes if you need it. If you want to be confident while wearing a black shirt, just double the amount of tea tree oil in this recipe.
We were skeptical about using castile soap on our hair, but the glycerine and the fractionated coconut oil really leave your hair moist. As compared to store bought shampoo, this shampoo felt really greasy, like it didn’t want to rinse out all the way. However, once the shower is over, and you’ve used a towel to dry your hair, it just feels so healthy and moist. As the day went on, there was no greasy look to the hair, either. So, if you’re using it and it feels greasy, don’t worry!
We’ve tried making this shampoo with just the tea tree oil but really prefer the smell the rosemary gives it. Plus, rosemary is very beneficial to hair follicles, so why not, right? If you don’t have fresh rosemary, you can of course use rosemary essential oil as a substitute.
Another neat variation on this recipe is that if your daughter has brought home any critters from school (Why do little girls always share hair brushes?!?!), you can just add 10 drops of lavender essential oil to this shampoo. There’s something about the mix of tea tree and lavender that the little critters HATE!
